Civics and Citizenship

Civics and Citizenship Education is part of the school’s core work. The direction of Civics & Citizenship at PCW has been around Civics & Citizenship in the Classroom, Active Participation in the School Community, and Partnerships – Contributing to our Community.

The emphasis on the dimensions of Civic Knowledge and Understanding and Community Engagement are addressed both within the Discipline Based Studies (originally Humanities, RE and English) and from a year level integrated approach. Years 7 & 8 have largely centred on Civics & Citizenship in the Classroom and Active Participation in the School Community. At Years 9 & 10 the attention has been widened to Partnerships – Contributing to our Community focusing on ways in which our students actively contribute to their local and wider community.
