Music

Music Music is an important aspect of life at PCW. It is a varied and stimulating area that the school is renowned for. From Year 7 our teachers look to inspire and develop student’s music skills. Music study is a core part of the Year 7 & 8 curriculum. In Year 9 & 10 it forms part of the elective program. Senior students are able to include VCE Music Performance in their studies. All students also have the opportunity to participate in the music program as a part of the extra-curricular activities offered.

During the school day music is performed on a regular basis. School assemblies and whole school events often open with a performance from the PCW choir or instrumental group. With the choir and instrumental groups also an important feature of school liturgies.

CO-CURRICULAR MUSIC

The College has engaged fine sessional teachers who work closely with the Director of Music. Individual and group tuition is available in the following instruments: piano, guitar, bass guitar, voice, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, flute, saxophone, percussion, violin and cello.

PCW Music camp offers students from all year levels the opportunity to immerse themselves in music rehearsals and two days of fun and learning. This event is followed by an evening Music Showcase to display the work from the camp.

PCW’s annual Music Festival is a highlight of the year, held at Hamer Hall at the Arts Centre, and presents student performances including dance/variety, choir and instrumental. The event is student lead and managed. It is open to all students for students to perform or work backstage. It is a tremendous event and one that we encourage all students to get involved in.
