Senior Pathways VCE, VET, VCAL
PCW offers students accessible pathways to university, training and further education or employment. As students progress
through the middle years they are assisted in developing a course plan that will aid their transition into senior school, and
in choosing the appropriate senior certificate for their desired pathway – VCE, VET, VCAL.
To support this work, PCW has partnered with specialist educational consultants, Regan Consulting, to help students understand
the myriad of career and tertiary options available post secondary school.
Starting in Year 10, the Senior Pathways Program includes individual interviews with each student helping them explore where
their interests lie and possible career pathways. The Year 10 program includes workshops on resume writing, interview skills,
financial planning and work experience preparation. During Years 11 & 12 students’ study plans are reviewed and future
tertiary study plans and workplace opportunities are investigated. Year 12 students also receive support with their VTAC
preferences.
Since being a VET pilot school in 1993, PCW has offered students a wide range of VET studies, alongside the VCE program,
broadening the subject choices and career options. PCW is part of the IMVC (Inner Melbourne Vet Cluster) enabling students
a choice of 18 VET studies both on and off campus.
PCW offers VCAL (Victorian certificate of Applied Learning) and ASbAs (Australian School Based
Apprenticeships), which has proved highly successful.
Students have the opportunity to undertake VCE VET Business and Certificate III in Media as a part of their
timetabled Year 10 program.

In many respects the diversity of courses offered at PCW reflects the contemporary thinking on education. PCW is proud of its
record as a school where all students can realise their potential.
