Year 11 & 12

In the Senior Years at PCW (commencing in Year 10) students are assisted in developing a course plan that will facilitate them moving through the Senior School enabling them to choose the appropriate senior school certificate for their desired pathway. Students work closely with specialist educational and career consultants who provide study and career advice.

Students may select to study The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or The Victorian Certificate of Applied learning (VCAL). VET studies may also be studied in conjunction with VCE or VCAL.

THE VICTORIAN CERTIFICATE OF EDUCATION – VCE
This certificate recognises the successful completion of secondary education. The VCE provides pathways to further study at University, technical and Further Education (TAFE) and to employment.

Where VCE is used as a pathway to university, VCAL focuses on ‘hands-on’ learning and aims to increase pathways for students into training and employment. Students undertaking VCAL are more likely to train at TAFE, take on apprenticeship, traineeship or seek employment post Year 12.
